What is actually Hard Enduro?
We have already spoken in a previous post about what is really enduro. Now, let’s go a little deeper. Hard Enduro is a part of the fascinating motorcycle enduro sport and it involves navigating some of the toughest and most challenging off-road terrains, including steep hills, rocky slopes, rivers, forests, and man-made obstacles. The goal is normally not only the speed but also technical ability, as riders need to tackle some very impressive natural and artificial barriers! Most of them would seem impossible to manage by the average motorcyclist.
The HEWC brings together the best riders from around the world to compete in these events, pushing their skills and endurance to the absolute limit.
History of the Hard Enduro World Championship
The Hard Enduro World Championship is quite a recent event, it was officially launched in 2021, but the origins of Hard Enduro racing date back to much earlier. Events like the Erzbergrodeo, Red Bull Romaniacs, and Roof of Africa laid the foundation for what would eventually become the championship. These beautiful and famous races attracted global attention, leading to the rising of popularity of enduro and to a real need for an official, organized series.
The series inlcudes quite a few extreme races around the world and these are unique opportunities to gather the top riders together. In each event the riders accumulate points that are based on their results and clearly the rider with the most points will become, at the end of the season, the world champion of hard enduro.
